It is commonly believed that dreams of having sex are normal, simply because sex is normal. On the contrary, dreams of sex are caused by two spirits, namely, incubus, which comes from the Latin word incubare, meaning “to lie upon”.
This demonic spirit has a male form that lies upon sleepers who are usually females. Its female counterpart is called a succubus from the Latin word succubare, meaning “to lie beneath”.
But why? Why would they want to come and lie with humans? The answer is simple. Their master is Satan, and we know that his goal is to kill, steal, and destroy, as mentioned in John 10:10. Likewise, their goal is to do the same.
Just as their master, the incubus and succubus spirit is out to kill, steal, and destroy. Here are some of the key things that they try to accomplish by having sex with you.
Have you ever noticed how dirty you feel after waking up from a sexual dream?
Remember that your body is the temple of God and must be clean and undefiled for Him to dwell there (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). These sexual dreams work to make your vessel unclean, to separate you from God.
These two unclean spirits bring forth the spirit of lust, fornication, and adultery, and that is one of the reasons the dreamer is left feeling extremely “horny” and with an open appetite for sex.
Now, let’s be clear that, even if the person you had sex with in your dream was your partner, it is still a sexual dream and is caused by these spirits.
Their goal, especially if the face you saw was someone else, is for you to start lusting after other people and lose interest in your partner.
They want you to live in the fantasy they created of you being sexually satisfied by someone else, which causes the dreamer to seek satisfaction outside their marriage.
Consistent sexual dreams signify a spiritual marriage with these demonic spirits because the dreamer has not tried to stop them; it’s an indirect agreement.
The incubus spirit stops the dreamer from becoming close to another man, and likewise, the succubus spirit stops the man from getting close to another woman. They spiritually start to ward off any potential marriage partner.
Like any other spirits, before the incubus and succubus spirits gain access to a human, they need what is called a door or an access point.
These doors are opened by us commonly through our eye and ear gates (what we see and hear), and also through our thoughts, with what we come into agreement with, our words, and even our actions. These acts (which are usually unclean or sinful) give them legal rights.
Here are some common things that give the incubus and sucubus spirits access:
If you have a sexual dream, the moment you wake up, you should rebuke, denounce, and bring judgment on the demonic spirits at work.
Below is a testimony extracted from the book ‘The Supernatural Dimensions of Dreams’ written by an apostolic minister, Demontae Edmonds, demonstrating the power of God against the incubus spirit.
One day, while I was in prayer, the Lord spoke to me about a certain young lady whom I will call Janice for the sake of anonymity. The Lord said, “She is being abused by an incubus spirit.”
An incubus is a demon with a male identity that sexually attacks individuals (most often women) in their sleep. The targeted person may be awakened from sleep after experiencing perverted sexual dreams, unnatural feelings of arousal, someone on top of them, or even worse, an attempted penetration. T
he person awakens to find no physical person present but often discerns that an invisible entity has attempted to molest him or her. If undealt with, the incubus spirit makes the person feel unclean and ashamed and slowly zaps away his or her faith.
When I called Janice, I asked her if she had recently experienced an incubus attack. She responded yes and told me the attacks had been frequent.
“How frequent?”I asked. I expected Janice to reply something like every few months. Instead, she responded, “A few times per week.”
Janice was a believer in God but somehow had allowed herself to fall into a place of being constantly harassed and oppressed by this demonic power in her dreams.
I asked her if she had prayed against the attacks or had used her spiritual authority to overcome them. She replied that she had done neither. I instructed her to take authority over the incubus attack the next time it happened.
Janice made this attempt, but because her faith had slowly diminished over time, it was futile and only provoked the spirit further.
The night she tried it, the incubus that had been attacking her only in her dreams now appeared as an apparition in her room and attempted to curse and choke her.
It is important as believers in Jesus Christ that we immediately exercise our spiritual authority afforded to us through the Word of God whenever the enemy rears his ugly head.
God has given us spiritual tools and keys within Scripture to help with this task, such as binding and loosing. In Matthew 18:18, Jesus says, “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
I believe that had Janice released her faith immediately and put the Word to work on her behalf before the enemy could place her into captivity, she would have experienced liberty.
She had knowledge of God’s Word, but she didn’t use it in a timely fashion and became a captive. We are admonished in James 1 verse 22 to “be doers of the Word, and not hearers only.”
After speaking with Janice, I came to realize how this demonic spirit had gained access to her soul. As a child, she had grown up in a household where her stepfather was a source of great aggravation for both Janice and her siblings.
He was often angry, verbally abusive, and intimidating. There was always the fear in Janice that he might try to abuse her sexually as well. She felt unprotected by her mother, who was dealing with her own traumas and issues.
Janice’s constant fear of molestation opened a door for a phobia to set in and a spirit of fear to harass her. The day after Janice unsuccessfully attempted to resist the incubus spirit, she reported its spiritual retaliation to me.
My wife and I intervened on Janice’s behalf. We both prayed over her, rebuked the dream attacks, and bound the incubus spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. That night, God gave Janice a dream indicative of her new freedom.
In the dream, she saw a darkened sky filled with horrific-looking clouds. It was as if the clouds had grimacing faces. Suddenly, a bright light shone, the darkness fled, and the evil clouds vanished.
Janice knew this dream was a supernatural sign from God. The perverted dream attacks, which had lasted six months, immediately ended, thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit.
As I come to an end, may your dreams be covered under the blood of Jesus Christ. May you begin to clearly hear His will for your life.
